Course content
The majority of health systems combine public and private funding sources with alternative methods of providing care. requires a health system to function effectively. The goal of health financing is to increase participants’ proficiency in outlining, carrying out, and evaluating a system or plan for health funding. By the end of the course, participants will be able to execute a health financing scheme in their locality, explain one in an organized manner, evaluate the effectiveness of the scheme, and recommend improvements. There are four modules in the course, and they are all required. The goal of this course is to give students the financial tools necessary for managers of public health and healthcare services to make better operational, strategic, and financial decisions.
Learning objectives
After completing the course the student should be able to:
- Acknowledge the normative and constructive underpinnings of health care financing, paying particular attention to the discussion of equality, universal health coverage, and health systems transformation.
- Distinguish between various health financing models and functions in various health system environments.
- Examine and contrast the fundamental elements of health care funding systems in high-, middle-, and low-income nations, taking into account circumstances related to refugee and migrant crisis.
- Evaluate the public and private sectors’ contributions to the funding of health care in various circumstances.
- Examine the advantages and disadvantages of the various instruments utilized in the creation and evaluation of finance systems.
- Address issues with the health systems in each of their different nations, evaluate and compare the merits of several workable approaches for financing health care.
