Double Degree Program Between UGM and The University of Melbourne

Master Program of Health Policy and Management has opened opportunities for students to join the Double Degree program between the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health and Nursing, Universitas Gadjah Mada and Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences University of Melbourne.

We open opportunities for students to take part in this Double Degree program, by offering many benefits including:

  1. Students will receive a total of 2 certificates, provided by Universitas Gadjah Mada and University of Melbourne.
  2. The host institution will assist double-degree students with (1). Information and counselling with respect to healthcare and medical insurance, (2). Academic information and counselling (including access to learning resources required by the course programs subject to this agreement), as well as cultural counselling, and (3) Support in carrying out administrative procedures such as registration, acquiring grade reports or certificates, transcripts, visa University requirements.
  3. Students will pay the required tuition and other fees to their home institution for the duration of their study that can be facilitated by LPDP scholarship for double degree program.
  4. Provision of additional services for dual degree students, including assistance with obtaining residence permits, assistance with finding accommodation, courses in local languages, and activities to facilitate social integration.

Thesis Requirement

Learning objective:

  • Comprehensively master the scientific field under study and the research methodology used. 
  • Communicate and publish through seminars or in the form of scientific articles in scientific journals as a means to disseminate the research results obtained. 
  • Integrate and apply concepts and methodologies learnt during lectures. 
  • Critically review, appraise and synthesise existing literature or evidence in a specific area.

Generic information regarding master thesis:

  1. The final project can be prepared in the form of a thesis, prototype, capstone project, or other similar final project;
  2. The final project is disseminated to the academic community and/or directly to the wider community in the form of scientific publications, exhibitions, and/or presentations at national or international meetings;
  3. Scientific publications as referred to in number 2 that have been accepted at least in accredited national journals; and
  4. In the event that students do not prepare scientific publications as referred to in number 3, the dissemination / publication component of the final project is assessed using criteria and methods determined by the Study Programme and it is possible to get an A grade if it meets the predetermined criteria.

Documents and/or data required to register are as follows:

1. Original diploma from previous level of education (S1 or equivalent) from an accredited Study Program in the appropriate and/or related field of science and approved by the Master’s Program to be followed;
2. Original transcript with Grade Point Average at Bachelor’s level or equivalent, with a minimum GPA of 3.50
3. Study program accreditation certificate at Bachelor level or equivalent, with the following conditions:

  1. The study program accreditation in question is the current accreditation and is proven by scanning the accreditation certificate or accreditation print screen from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT)/LAM-PTKes page which is still valid;
  2. Study programs whose accreditation is in the process of being extended, are proven by a receipt for submission of the accreditation form to BAN-PT/LAM-PTKes obtained from the relevant higher education institution. The certificate from the relevant university is not valid;
  3. Applicants who have graduated abroad must have a diploma equivalent decision letter from the Ministry of Education and Culture as a substitute for an accreditation certificate.

The committee only processes accreditation documents that comply with the provisions.

6. Confidential recommendations from 2 (two) people who know the prospective student at the previous level of education, Academic Supervisor and/or other people who are considered authorized, for example the applicant’s employer. The link to provide recommendations online will be sent by the UM UGM Committee  to recommenders via email. Make sure the recommender’s email address is a valid and active email address;
7. Special conditions:

  1. Projections of prospective students’ desires in taking part in the Master’s Program which contain, among other things, plans for research topics/interests as well as reasons and hopes for joining the chosen program, plans for research topics, and plans after finishing college (format can be downloaded here);

9. Document of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) or Cooperation Agreement (PKS) or Determination Letter as a Scholarship Recipient that is still valid (especially for cooperation pathway applicants);
