Evaluation of distance learning faced by students of the Public Health Postgradate Program since 2020 is a necessity to determine the effectiveness of the learning process. It is known that music has a significant role in encouraging the effectiveness of learning. Therefore, the Department of Health Policy and Management invites lecturers, students and the academic community of the Postgraduate Program in a discussion with the topic: The Function of Music in the Learning Process.
This discussion was held online and broadcast on Community Radio Raisa belonging to IKM FK-KMK UGM. The invited resource persons are Dr. Dra. Heni Kusumawati, M.Pd (Lecturer in Music Arts Education, FBS Yogyakarta State University) moderated by Ghitka Nabila as the Raisa Community Radio broadcaster.
In this discussion, Mrs. Heni Kusumawati explained the various benefits of music such as for health therapy, stimulating brain work, relieving stress, increasing creativity, building motivation, and increasing focus, concentration and memory. The type of music, be it slow, medium or fast, will affect the brain’s response. The music genre chosen as a study partner can vary between individuals depending on the generation who enjoys it, it is adjusted to the music genre that is usually heard everyday, and depends on preferences and appreciation of music. Choose music that makes you comfortable, does not have to refer to a particular genre. Apart from helping in the learning process, music can also support various activities such as sports. Music is also related to emotions so the effect of listening to music is also influenced by the mood of the listener. The hope is that music will help stabilize emotions and solve various problems.
